Aisle vs Window Seat ( Case : Traveling by Train)
~ Somebody write in one of traveling blog that I followed. The writer said,'twitter status is about your impression, think that happen in a short time, and blog is your story about your thought, impression, and experience that can explain what happen clearly' (CMIIW, but as far I can remember the sentence is similar). So, when I opened my old timeline and found out my tweet when I was traveling by train from Jakarta to Malang, I decided to compile all of them and made them lasting longer than in my timeline (I bet there is no one read those tweets). ~
Several reason why window seat is the best seat when you traveling by train (in my point of view, of course)
I write this based on my experiences traveling by train at least for 6 years from Jakarta to Banyuwangi (my sweet hometown) via Surabaya or Malang. If you never do that, I told you, that is a long journey (two day and one night). That's why, seat choice is important for me because the seat will be your for almost 30 hours. If you want to fell comfortable, so my best suggestion is get the best seat (read:window seat), always avoid aisle seat as far as you can.
1. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery without anybody bothering you. In case traveling by train across Java Island, you can see many type of civilization like metropolitan - urban - suburban - village - agriculture area - plantation forest - natural forest that appear alternately.
2. Especially in long distance train, high traffic of passenger, merchant, and rail-guard may make you uncomfortable. The best way to avoid that is sit on the window seat.
3. Electrical plug master (in business and executive class) is the one in window seat.
4. Mini table for putting your snack, soft drink, or mineral water is dominated by window seat owner.
5. Most of long distance train is night express train. The most comfortable place for sleep is window seat. Your head can lean on the elbow between your seat and window. You don't need to worry if your body will be stick out to aisle.
6. Usually, when you sit for a long time in the room with air conditioner, what will you fell? Right, You will feel your stomach filled with air. If that happen, what will you do? Don't be shy, I know the only answer is you will fart. If you seat on window seat, all you need is just place your butt facing the wall.
7. This is happen for beginner train traveler or if the route is new. Knowing your position, the train is stopped in which station, how is the station building looks like, are a must. The better place to satisfied your curiosity is window seat.
8. For the superstar wanna be, if you want to say hello to the kids that take a shower in the river, or for you (guys) that like to watch the village girl that take a shower in the river, window seat is the best place.
9. For safety reason, to avoid you from snatcher, scoundrel which often act like musician, and of course the transvestite homosexual who often bothering you if you don't give them money, again, window seat offering you safety. (Not: for snatcher case, still you must pay attention to your belonging, because crime is happen because of chance).
10.Sometimes, when you are traveling, you want to be alone in your own world. You don't want to have a conversation, and don't want to care about your surrounding. Sitting in window seat is the best answer for that.
So, what must you do to get window seat? Nowadays, you need to make reservation to get train ticket no matter the class. You must reserve your ticket as soon as possible especially in the peak season. like I said, window seat is the best seat, so you not the only one who want to sit there. Booking faster, and get your best seat. Have a nice travel time.
